Choosing certificate software
Choose an app around the documents you produce.
A useful evaluation starts with a real workflow: the job details, checks, report review and customer handover. Compare those steps before committing your business to a new system.
Make a short list of essential requirements.
Write down your trade, required document types, devices and number of people creating records. Add any specific schedules, signatures, company branding or export needs. Keep essential requirements separate from features that would simply be useful later.
A mixed-trade business may need more than one app. Match gas, electrical, PAT, fire, emergency lighting, alarm and renewable work to the correct product, then confirm the plans and user arrangements.
Test a representative job, including the awkward parts.
- Enter realistic details.
Include the customer, site and equipment information you normally record.
- Check the longer sections.
Use a full schedule or a longer observation so you can judge how the document handles detail.
- Review and correct the record.
Confirm the process for reviewing your entries before issue and handling a correction if one is needed.
- Read the finished PDF.
Check every page, the business identity, tables and sign-off. View it on a phone as well as a larger screen.
- Find the record again.
Check the retrieval and export arrangements you need for customer questions and repeat work.
Confirm the commercial details before upgrading.
Check the price, billing period, included users, document limits and any paid branding controls. Confirm device access and the features needed for your working conditions rather than assuming they are the same across all apps or platforms.
If you are switching systems, review the migration process. If a team will use the app, plan a representative pilot before expanding access.
You do not need to guess what the customer output looks like: the CertifyApps sample hub has watermarked PDFs for every app in the family.
